This is the tenth post for this incredibly popular feature here at BOLO Books – The APB (All Points Bulletin).

As always, competition for these slots was tough. Which books are generating that elusive buzz in the publishing industry? Which are books that I have been waiting for?

Based on the strength of the included titles – almost all of which I have read – and the other incredible books that did not make this list, I would say that this Winter is going to be one of the best reading seasons of recent memory. I could easily have made two of these lists and still would have lacked the room to include all the titles I can’t wait to share with you all. There are way worse problems to have!

This feature works in conjunction with the weekly BOLO (Be On the Look Out) posts. Both are intended to highlight books that I am excited about in advance of their release date. In the case of the APB, the format is simply to present a gallery featuring the covers, the official release date of each book, and a brief explanation of why I am anticipating the title.

As we get closer to that release date, the BOLO post will give you more detailed information on each title, but in the meantime, feel free to research these titles on your own. And remember to pre-order!

Available January 2

Katia Lief returns with a new name and a new publisher. This is a heck of a way to start off the new year.

Available January 9

The return of Sujata Massey to the crime fiction fold is certainly something to celebrate by itself, but couple that with this incredible historical mystery set in India and it is clear that reader’s are the real winners here. The start of a new series.

Available January 23

My review is written and will be posted shortly after the New Year. This book is an instant classic! So timely, you will think Alafair Burke has a crystal ball at her disposal. Do not miss this one.

Available February 6

Sara Blaedel is one of those authors who I have long felt is under-appreciated. Her Louise Rick books proved that her strength lies in merging character, location, and plot. This new series launch – set mostly in the United States – may just be the novel that breaks her out in the big way I think she deserves.

Available February 6

Jane Harper’s debut, The Dry, got so very close to making my Top Reads list for 2017. It was an incredible debut and this follow-up more than lives up to the promise of that novel. Once again tying crime and environment is a unique but memorable way, I expect this will be one of the most popular novels of the year.

Available February 20

How can I not anticipate a prequel to one of my favorite historical series. And I just love this moody cover design.

Available February 20

You do see the name Laura Lippman on that cover, right? That is reason enough to be excited for this novel; but I dare say this may in fact be my favorite Laura Lippman novel ever! It’s both a perfect homage to the domestic noir of yesteryear and a completely contemporary psychological suspense drama set to light the world on fire.

Available March 1

I have been a Christopher Rice fan from his first book, but like The Heavens Rise, this one will blend crime and the supernatural in original ways. It appears to be the start of a series.

Available March 6

This Alison Gaylin stand-alone is simply brilliant. It’s becoming more and more common for psychological suspense to feature character’s reader’s don’t necessarily like, but with this novel, these characters are mostly likeable – until they are not. πŸ˜‰

Available March 17

I haven’t read this one yet, but as a fan of both I Let You Go and I See You, it’s impossible not to anticipate more from Clare Mackintosh. And certainly, this cover draws the reader in.
