From the Booking Desk:

One would be hard-pressed to find a nicer member of our crime fiction tribe than LynDee Walker. I first met LynDee at a Malice Domestic convention and now I look forward to seeing her at every crime convention I attend. She is often on panels about journalists in crime fiction and her books have recently been re-released with new covers that better represent the content within – this really is no cozy view of the intersection between journalism and crime. If you know her, you already love her; and if you don’t, make sure you get to know her at the next gathering of our beloved tribe.

Name: LynDee Walker
Location: Richmond, VA

This person from my personal life is such an inspiration:

My littles. Technically that’s three people, but I made them all so I’m fudging it a little. They are fascinating and brilliant and funny and (occasionally) frustrating, and I love them with the fire of ten thousand suns. They inspire me to try every day to be a better, kinder, smarter human than I was yesterday, and they make my world an immeasurably brighter place.

One of the people I admire most in the crime fiction community is:

I’m going to plead that it’s impossible for me to have to single just one out, because my favorite thing about our mystery tribe is that it’s made up of so many fantastic folks.

We have fabulous readers: Including you, Kristopher, and our dear Dru Ann, both of whom I admire not only for your reading speed but for your tireless and organized efforts to champion books and your kind, inclusive hearts. Whether an author is brand new or a seasoned bestseller, you two always make an effort to let them know they’re a valuable part of the group. We also have great writers: Among them, Hank Phillippi Ryan and Art Taylor are my professional role models because they are both brilliant and talented, but more importantly, they are both wonderful people. Hank and Art both have this almost mystical way of commanding a room while making every single person in that room feel welcome and wanted and important. I am indeed blessed to call all the folks I’ve mentioned here my friends.

STALKER ALERT! If this fictional character were real, they would likely need to get a restraining order against me:

Tess Monaghan. I’ve probably read all of Laura Lippman’s Tess books five or more times, because I love the inner strength and wit and character depth/evolution she gives us in Tess. Tess is that girlfriend we all want in our corner: loyal, funny, unafraid to be goofy or share her opinions, and perfectly imperfect.

People are always surprised that I am a fan of this individual (singer, actor, or artist):

I have to go with Biggie Smalls here. I love some song or artist from pretty much every genre of music, but I have definitely gotten raised eyebrows when I sing along with stuff from his Life After Death album. Or, mostly sing along. There are words in those songs I don’t say, but I love his work all the same.

My personal catch phrase is (or should be):

“Spread love everywhere you go.” It’s a Mother Teresa quote that I hold close in my heart and try to live by every day (the rest of her comment is “Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier,” but that makes it a bit long for a catch phrase).
