From The Booking Desk:

Terri Bischoff is one of my favorite people in the crime fiction community. She and I first crossed paths because of her work with Midnight Ink and mine here with the blog, but my fandom quickly expanded to include much admiration of Terri – the Person – as well as Terri – the Acquisitions Editor. Terri is an incredible mother, a loyal friend, she is always willing to lend a helpful hand to anyone in the crime fiction realm (and likely beyond), and she is committed to advancing all manner of diversity within the crime writing community. When Midnight Ink announced they were closing their doors, I immediately reached out to Terri, wanting to highlighted Terri here on BOLO Books. I knew it wouldn’t be long before some other lucky publisher snatched her up and in the wait time for this posting, Terri has joined the team at Crooked Lane Books. I predict this will be a match made in publishing heaven. Congratulations again, Terri! Now, let’s see how she tackles our weekly questions.

Name: Terri Bischoff
Location: Minneapolis, MN

This person from my personal life is such an inspiration:

Jess Lourey – I first met Jessie when I owned the mystery bookstore in Madison, WI. She just had her first book with Midnight Ink and we had an event for her in our store. We were friendly but when I moved up to the Twin Cities our friendship bloomed. I don’t know that I can convey how much she means to me. She showers me with support, advice, food, wine, and kittens. I mean how amazing is that?! I look to her as a role model on raising awesome kids. I see how hard she works and how much she gives back to the community. She encouraged me to seek joint legal custody of my kids and has been there every step of the way to pick me back up when I needed it.

One of the people I admire most in the crime fiction community is:

Boy this is a sticky one! I mean, there are so many people I respect and admire. Right now though, it has to be Kellye Garrett. First, she wrote a kick ass book. Then, she started to get award nominations and wins. She used her acceptance speeches to call out the lack of diversity in publishing. And if that wasn’t enough, she is very involved in Pitch Wars helping writers on their journey to publication. Kellye is fabulous in every sense of the word.

STALKER ALERT! If this fictional character were real, they would likely need to get a restraining order against me:

Again with the difficult questions! How am I supposed to pick just one? It’s like asking me to pick my favorite kid.

Lexy Campbell from Catriona McPherson’s Scot series. Because it would be like hanging out with Catriona all the time and I can’t think of anything more fun.

Sara Linton from Karin Slaughter’s Grant County and Will Trent series.

People are always surprised that I am a fan of this individual (singer, actor, or artist):

I don’t know if I surprise anyone with personal preferences probably because I don’t share them that often. But I will confess to being a Bravo channel junkie. And something that is not surprising, I’m also a crime documentary fan.

My personal catch phrase is (or should be):

Something with a lot of swear words probably. When I bowl on Wednesday nights, it’s usually “I fucking hate bowling.” Which means I didn’t get the strike or I missed a spare.
