Time for another entry in this incredibly popular feature here at BOLO Books – The APB (All Points Bulletin).

As always, competition for these slots was tough. Which books are generating that elusive buzz in the publishing industry? Which are books that I personally have been waiting for? As always, I try to keep this a mixture of books from heavy-hitters and those newer to our genre – and across all sub-genres and with some expression of the diversity that exists in our literary community.

This feature works in conjunction with the weekly BOLO (Be On the Look Out) posts. Both are intended to highlight books that I am excited about in advance of their release date. In the case of the APB, the format is simply to present a gallery featuring the covers, the official release date of each book, and a brief explanation of why I am anticipating the title.

As we get closer to that release date, the BOLO post will give you more detailed information on each title, but in the meantime, feel free to research these titles on your own. And remember to pre-order!

My review will be up this week, but suffice to say Tara Laskowski’s debut novel is accessible, relatable, and never less than all-consuming with a plot that is continuously evolving and two captivating female leads.

In a year that has seen an unprecedented number of high-profile crime fiction novels with the diversity the community has been asking for, Cha’s most recent novel is her best yet and certainly one that will be recognized for many awards in the coming year.

This historical mystery set in turn-of-the-century Chicago blends fact and fiction in fascinating ways. Avant-garde artist Henry Darger makes for an interesting companion to the gender-fluid lead character of this unusual serial killer novel.

You never know what you are going to get from one of Catriona McPherson’s stand-alone novels, but you can always count on it being a well-written and satisfying journey that lingers long after all the pages are turned.

Traditional mystery novels are still all-too-rare in the Young Adult market. Thankfully, Kelly Garrett has writing a book that should appear to readers of all ages. And just look at that stunning cover!

“Flash mob” violence seems to be the inspiration behind this Young Adult thriller. Seems like this one will have a mystery element to it as well, but only time will tell how that blend works for this audience.

With the release of each new novel, Lisa Jewell increases the certainly that she is a must-read author in the psychological suspense sub-genre. This is easily her best book yet and should garner her a ton of new fans.

J. M. Redmann’s Micky Knight P.I. series set in New Orleans holds court as a classic in “lesbian mystery fiction” circles, but this is an author whose engaging characters and intricate plots deserve a larger readership outside of the LGBTQ+ community.

This is a first novel in a new series set in Alaska that seems poised to be more on the traditional end of the spectrum than Paige Shelton’s other cozy writings. Another beautiful cover on a book that will be perfect for reading this Winter season.

Every new Val McDermid book is reason enough to celebrate, but this new novel returns to the world of Tony Hill and Carol Jordan and fans of that series are anxious to see how McDermid is going to alter this beloved series after the drastic events on which the previous book, Insidious Intent, concluded.
