From the Booking Desk:

I know this has been promoted on Facebook and elsewhere, but I wanted to make sure I also included it here for those that may only follow along on the website.

Dru Ann Love and I will be participating in a panel discussing blogging and books at the next meeting of the Chesapeake Chapter of Sisters in Crime.

The meeting will be held in Bethesda, Maryland. This event is open to the public, just be sure to RSVP. I know we’ll be seeing some of you there and hope that others will consider attending. Details below:

Blogger Panel

JULY 9, 2016

BLOGGERS PANEL

Panelists:
Dru Ann Love of dru’s book musings
Kristopher Zgorski of BOLO Books

Mystery readers, how do you discover new books to add to your TBR pile? Mystery writers, how do you get your own books discovered by those readers?

Today’s world is saturated with information at every turn, and the landscape for critical commentary is rapidly shifting: shrinking coverage of books in newspapers and magazines on the one hand and a rising chorus of reader-based reviews at Goodreads, Amazon and other websites on the other. In the midst of these sea changes and this information overload crime fiction bloggers serve an increasingly important role – as voices of authority on the mystery world, keeping in balance their roles as keen-eyed critics and as book advocates, commenting on and celebrating new books and new authors in equal measure.

On Saturday, July 9, Sisters in Crime welcomes two distinguished book bloggers – Dru Ann Love of dru’s book musings and Kristopher Zgorski of BOLO Books – to talk both about their work online and about their writing opportunities in other publications. Here at mid-year, they’ll also share with us some favorite books of 2016 so far and others on the horizon ahead!

Here’s more information on our panelists:

Dru Ann Love is owner/writer at dru’s book musings (http://drusbookmusing.com) and at her daytime situation is a market research analyst. A New Yorker, born and bred, Dru Ann is an avid reader, writes poetry, quilts and loves attending mystery fan conventions with readers and authors. Dru Ann is honored that her musings will appear in Crimespree Magazine. Dru Ann may not be a writer, but her name has appeared in several cozy titles.

Book reviewer Kristopher Zgorski is an avid reader who presently works as a Production Coordinator for Johns Hopkins University Press located in Baltimore, Maryland, and is also the founder of the crime fiction book review blog BOLO Books (https://bolobooks.com). His reviews regularly appear in Deadly Pleasures Magazine, Crimespree Magazine, and on the UK-based e-zine, SHOTS UK. Kristopher is a firm believer that there is a reader for every book and book for every reader.

RSVP details and meal prices can be found on the Sisters in Crime Website.
