From the Booking Desk:

Erin Mitchell was one of the first people I became acquainted with our crime fiction tribe, and to this day she remains one of the most important. After communications online, I met Erin at various Bouchercons and BookExpo America. I have even visited with her in St. Petersburg, Florida where she currently resides. Conveniently, St. Pete’s also happens to be the location for the 2018 Bouchercon – I hope that you all are planning to join us for what will surely be a legendary convention. I could go on and on, but suffice to say, Erin has been incredibly supportive of BOLO Books from the very beginning; and I will be forever grateful for that. Let’s see what Erin is going to reveal to us in this week’s composite sketch.

Name: Erin Mitchell
Location: St. Petersburg, Florida and Las Vegas (because the book I’m reading at the moment is set there)

This person from my personal life is such an inspiration:

My mom. She was a reader and reporter, and her love of the written word has always guided me, even though she died before I was old enough to know how to read.

One of the people I admire most in the crime fiction community is:

Picking one is so difficult because I admire just about everyone for different reasons! But here goes: Sara Paretsky. I’ve loved her storytelling since I first met VI Warshawski. But Sara’s contributions go so much further, from founding Sisters in Crime to always being available to readers at events to being a constant inspiration with her commitment to truth, justice, and fairness. She is also kind and funny and one of the smartest people I’ve ever met.

STALKER ALERT! If this fictional character were real, they would likely need to get a restraining order against me:

Ok, so you didn’t specify one, so…

  • Tim Dorsey’s Serge (and Coleman, because they’re usually together). Although Serge wouldn’t take out a restraining order…he would just give me a role in one of his adventures.
  • Lisa Unger’s Eloise Montgomery and Jones Cooper. If I could live in The Hollows, I totally would.
  • Faith Mitchell from Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent series. I choose to believe that she and I sharing a surname isn’t an accident.

People are always surprised that I am a fan of this individual (singer, actor, or artist):

I must be pretty predictable, because this is the hardest question of all! It would probably be easier to come up with one I don’t like that’s surprising. But that said, I’ll go with Shakira. I like her music a lot, and not just because her boyfriend is Gerard Pique (who’s an artist on the football pitch).

My personal catch phase is (or should be):

What are you reading?
