Michelle Richter is one of the many wonderful agents working with crime writing community. I’ve been a huge fan for many reasons, not the least of which is her desire to add diverse voices to our tribe. I was able to spend some time in person with Michelle at the last Malice Domestic convention, chatting about all sundry of topics, and it was a pure delight. This person from my personal life is such an inspiration:
My husband. He works with developmentally disabled adults, and it’s more than just a job to him. He even helped an individual find and reunite with his sister after more than 50 years apart. He’s the kind of man who rescues cats and takes old people to the store—he has a huge heart.
One of the people I admire most in the crime fiction community is:
There are so many! To choose just one? I have to go with Paula Munier. Paula is not only an agent and a former editor, but also an author whose debut mystery is coming out soon—and it is great! She’s generous is sharing opportunities with colleagues, mentors writers in workshops, imparts insights and expertise on panels and online, and is just, to use one of her favorite words, swell!
STALKER ALERT! If this fictional character were real, they would likely need to get a restraining order against me:
I kept rejecting characters as I thought of them, saying “oh no, they’re a mess!”, but I decided to embrace it. So I choose a complicated mess who’s easy on the eyes, John Luther (Idris Elba). If he’s good enough for Alice, he’s good enough for me.
People are always surprised that I am a fan of this individual (singer, actor, or artist):
Rush. I know they’ve never been cool, per se, but their drummer, Neal Peart, is an amazing lyricist and Geddy Lee wails with the best of them.
My personal catch phrase is (or should be):
“To thine own self be true.” I am forthright, but am also a poor liar and have a very expressive face, LOL.
