Today, we have a sketch from a newer member of our community. Marco Carocari is the author of Blackout, which I highly recommend for those looking to expand the diversity represented in the crime fiction they read. I have been lucky enough to have several meals with Marco at various conventions in the last few years and I can attest that he is as fascinating and engaging as his book would lead you to believe.

This person from my personal life is such an inspiration:
My uncle, who lost his entire family (wife, son, daughter) to cancer, managed to get through and rise above it, somehow, and remains one of the kindest and most positive people I know.
One of the people I admire most in the crime fiction community is:
Sorry, it’s got to be two (both also terrific writers)—Kellye Garrett, who has done and continues to do so much for not only Writers of Color, but all marginalized writers; and Gabriel Valjan whose tireless support of writers continues to boost, amplify, and introduce their works to broader audiences and has been instrumental in my personal success.
STALKER ALERT! If this fictional character were real, they would likely need to get a restraining order against me:
Louis, the (retired) hitman in John Connolly’s ‘Parker’ novels…though I imagine I’d not get too far before his partner, Angel, found ways to quietly—though not necessarily painlessly—eliminate me.
