From the Booking Desk:

There is no question in anybody’s mind that S. A. Cosby is a superstar of the crime fiction genre. It is an honor to have him here participating in the Composite Sketch series. I first met Shawn at a local MD/DC/VA Noir at the Bar event shortly after his first novel, My Darkest Prayer, was released back in 2019. At that event, he read his short story “The Grass Beneath My Feet” which would soon go on to critical acclaim and award wins. I can still feel the visceral reaction I had that night listening to this man read his story aloud.

Razorblade Tears was my favorite book of 2021 and ranks on a short list of my all-time favorites. Here was a book that spoke directly to me, about my life experience, and about matters of integrity, social responsibility, and acceptance in ways that I could never convey myself. I have and will continue to put this book into hands of readers–strangers and friends.

Shawn is incredibly busy and in-demand from the highest echelons of the literary realm, so for him to take any time out of his daily routine to answer these questions means the world to me. Let’s see what he wants to share.

Name: S.A.Cosby
Location: Gloucester Va

This person from my personal life is such an inspiration:

My grandfather.  He couldn’t read and had a speech impediment but he was the most honorable man I’ve ever known.

One of the people I admire most in the crime fiction community is:

Kellye Garrett.  She is not only a masterful storyteller but she is also a shining light for what’s best about crime fiction.

STALKER ALERT! If this fictional character were real, they would likely need to get a restraining order against me:

Haha I think Ignatius P. Reilly from A Confederacy of Dunces. If for no other reason than I want to follow him around New Orleans and watch how his pontificating annoys people.

People are always surprised that I am a fan of this individual (singer, actor, or artist):

Tyler Chiders. He’s a country artist but he writes songs from a place deep inside that I recognize in myself.

My personal catch phrase is (or should be):

I guar-damn-tee it!
