From the Booking Desk:
Holly West has been a long-time supporter of BOLO Books, so when she approached me to ask if I would be willing to host the cover reveal for her first anthology-editing gig, there was no way I was saying no. Truth is, the brilliant and fun concept of the anthology would have had me saying yes even if I didn’t know how talented Holly is – so you will understand why I was trilled to be asked. There have been several crime fiction anthologies inspired by the music of various artists – Cash, Springsteen, and The Replacements come to mind – but as far as I know, we have yet to see one centered around a female artist. With Murder-A-Go-Go’s, Holly went one step further and coordinated an anthology inspired by one of the most influential of girl groups – The Go-Go’s – and even arranged for one of the members of said group to write the introduction. Throw into this mix an incredibly-varied assortment of our top crime fiction writers and this is an anthology that you won’t want to miss.
Coming March 25, 2019 from Down & Out Books.
Let’s take a look at the cover design with original illustration donated by comic book artist John K. Snyder III.
The Go-Go’s made music on their own terms and in the process, gave voice to a generation. Their songs are an indelible part of our collective soundtrack, speaking to the power and possibility of youth. With a foreword by Jane Wiedlin and stories by twenty-five kick-ass authors, MURDER-A-GO-GO’S is an all-star crime fiction anthology inspired by one of the most iconic bands of the eighties.
A few advance blurbs:
“I always suspected that twinkle in the Go-gos’ eyes was a coded invitation to a darker world. In the hands of these 25 stellar crime fiction writers, “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed” become evil little gems. A totally rad read.” —Alan Hunter, Original MTV VJ, SiriusXM Host
“Shock and Awe, that sums up my reaction to MURDER-A-GO-GO’S. Shock to live in times when “The Whole World Lost Its Head” and awe at the response of these gifted writers. Buckle up for a ride that will leave “Skidmarks on Your Heart.” —Sara Paretsky, best-selling author of the V.I. Warshawski crime series
“Who knew those happy songs by one of my all-time favorite bands, the Go-Go’s, could inspire such dark, noir, spine tingling stories?!! It’s a collection of tales of distinctly female rage—the murderous kind and other wise—to keep you up at night!”—Alison Arngrim, TV’s Nellie Oleson and NY Times bestselling author, CONFESSIONS OF A PRAIRIE BITCH
