From The Booking Desk:
In case you have not purchased a copy of J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst’s new novel S. yet, I thought perhaps a small glimpse inside might entice you.
Upon purchase, you will find yourself in possession of a slipcover which holds the novel proper. The inside book is titled Ship of Theseus (by V. M. Straka). The novel has a beautiful cover design, an aged feel to it, and a clever Dewey decimal sticker on the spine.
Ship of Theseus contains all sorts of ephemera within. Everything from letters and postcards to maps and photographs. All of these items are conveniently placed throughout the pages of the novel to further enhance the reading experience.
Since the work is essential a novel within a novel, a tiny look inside is necessary. The typeset pages are the main novel – Ship of Theseus; while the handwritten margin notes tell the unfolding tale of two people who are using the book itself as a communication device. The notes are written in various handwriting styles and ink colors to represent the various hands involved and the time periods covered.
This book is a work of art and you are going to want to have a copy of it in your library. I can’t even begin to imagine the production work that was required to produce such a fine end product. This will also make a wonderful holiday gift for that hard-to-buy-for individual.
On the top of my holiday wish list for sure!!!
